School spirit days at Verran

We are starting our Verran School Spirit Days for our whole school assembly on the last Friday of each month.  All children are asked to wear purple (or blue) for our school colours, to promote our school spirit.  It might be a good idea for those parents who don’t have purple clothing, to possibly obtain an inexpensive t-shirt or similar clothing item in a larger size that could be used for several years on our school spirit days.  It may be any item of clothing, for example, a t-shirt, shorts, dress, skirt etc.  We are hoping to create unity, belonging to a special “Verran family” and a feeling of “Verran Spirit” The remaining assemblies for this year are (unless it is raining):
Friday 25th November
Thursday 15th December

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day and our Celebration of Learning will be held on Friday 2 December.  As we usually do, we will be singing songs and performing some dances.  This term, the juniors have been learning about colours and rainbows, so we would like to “spice things up a bit” and create a special feature for Grandparents Day.
We are asking that each class wears a specific colour for the day.
Room 1 = turquoise
Room 2 = orange
Room 3 = blue
Room 4 = purple
Room 6 = green
Room 7 = red
Room 8 = white
Room 13 = yellow
Room 14 = pink

A reminder that:

Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4 and 13 are going to The PumpHouse Theatre on Monday 19 September at 9.45am

Our Junior Sharing Day will be held on Wednesday 21 September from 9.10 to 10.40am.  Providing it is not wet, we will hold the parade on the library stairs (due to our hall coming down this Friday).  The children will sit in rows along the stairs and parents can either sit on some chairs behind the children, or stand on the field.  If it is wet, each class will hold a fashion show in their own classroom and parents are invited into the classrooms.

We look forward to our fashion show for wearable art.

Rooms 6, 8, 14 and 7 are going to The PumpHouse Theatre on Thursday 22 September at 9.45am

Celebration of Learning Term 3 2016

Our Junior CELEBRATION OF LEARNING will be held on Wednesday 21 September from 9.10 to 10.40am.

This term, our Inquiry focus has been about the Olympics and ‘Fibres and fabrics’.  As part of our celebration, we would like to organise a fun ‘Fashion Parade’ for all children.  Each child in the Junior Team will participate.

Please create one fashion item with your child at home.  Your child will wear this fashion item on the day.  This can be as small as a pair of earrings or a hat, or as big as an entire costume.  The item could be made out of recycled materials or material, paper, plastic bags, newspaper, etc.  If you are stuck for ideas, you could google ‘easy wearable art for children ’ or the ‘Wearable Arts Awards’ in Wellington.

We look forward to seeing you and your child/children with their fashion items.
